Councillor Davod Harrison

Yes, We All Make Mistakes, But……

It’s pretty shocking that the Tory Transport Secretary, Chris “Failing” Grayling has stayed in post after his disastrous record with the railways and his even worse previous performance in the Ministry of Justice.

The latest cock-up under his watch, involves a blundered tendering process that involved him awarding a contract to a company to run a ferry service that had no track record and no ferries, only for him to cancel it at public expense.

Worst still, he has now had to settle out of court to Eurotunnel, providing the commercial company with £33 million of our money by way of “compensation” for doing no work at all.

The thing that infuriates me most is that, at a Hampshire level, I am fighting really hard to keep a Care Home open because the Conservatives insist that money must be saved.

Do you know what?

The £33 million being chucked away would have kept the care Home running for 66 years!

Chris Grayling, meanwhile, will soon be enjoying a taxpayer funded pay rise… you could not make it up could you?
