Waterside Railway

I had a quick interview on BBC today, again making the case for restoration of the passenger service along the Waterside railway.

Now that the line is no longer being used to transport oil to Fawley refinery, the biggest fear is that the line won’t be maintained and will fall into neglect.

Naturally, I will keep pushing this project. I am already pressing officers at Hampshire County Council to reconsider the scheme.

One bonus is that I had a chance meeting with Lord (Ralph) Montagu on the platform at Marchwood.

He is a very keen supporter of the project and listened carefully to my plans to get the line re-opened.

LOCAL PLAN IS APPROVED…

LOCAL PLAN IS APPROVED It was an extraordinary meeting of New Forest District Council tonight. Several Conservative Councillors expressed upset and frustration that the Conservative government were imposing house building development on the New Forest, often without the necessary infrastructure being in place, but nevertheless, all of them followed the party line and voted in…
