Councillor Davod Harrison

I am really pleased that central government seem to have woken up to the value of trees, as a means of helping tackle the threat of air pollution and climate change.

There are some who will say “We live in the New Forest and we have enough trees”… however, the reality is that we need more of them, especially in the more urban areas where air pollution is a problem.

Yes, some trees cause problems and it is important to have the right tree in the right place.

That said, they are very attractive additions to most streets, support wildlife, provide shade and help us to breathe!

I am working with colleagues on local authorities to try and get more trees planted in a appropriate places.

It appears that some government match funding is available to help boost any local projects.
