Theft from Eling Infants School
I am absolutely shocked to discover another serious incident involving the theft of lead, causing a huge amount of damage to the roof at Eling Infants School, Totton.
I know that the Governors, staff and parents will be really upset by this.
I was a Governor myself up until January and it is such a hard job, in these times of austerity, to balance the school budget.
This is the second time this crime has happened.
I understand that the roof was targeted in February (half term) and again yesterday.
It’s going to be expensive to put right.
Hampshire County Council “self insure” school buildings, but this is still a further drain on the taxpayer.
I am sure the Head and her staff and Governors will do their best to ensure any disruption to the school is minimised.
Did anybody see anything suspicious?
Perhaps somebody may have a dashcam recording of a nearby parked van or even a picture of the suspects.
Please contact the police using the non-emergency 101 number if you can offer any information that might help.
These rogues need to be caught and prosecuted.
