Testing Support For The Railway Campaign

By The Railway
By The Railway

I have been told by a number of local Conservative Councillors that they back the campaign to restore a passenger service along the Waterside railway line.

This was not always the case.

A few years ago, I was faced with significant opposition.

One local Tory Councillor actively worked to stop Hampshire County Council backing the scheme.

I have decided to test the Council by submitting a Motion to the Full Council meeting on Monday 9th September.

The motion reads :

“That this Council supports wholeheartedly the resumption of a rail link along the Waterside as part of a strategic transport infrastructure in the light of planned development in the south waterside area.

Officers will be tasked to work closely with HCC staff to ensure oversight on planning issues and economic and environmental viability are maintained and resolved.”

HOW BEST TO RESPOND TO THE FINANCIAL CHALLENGE…

HOW BEST TO RESPOND TO THE FINANCIAL CHALLENGE As Leader of the opposition Liberal Democrat Group on New Forest District Council, I am not always supportive of the Conservative administration. However, I accept that voters decided they should run things. Where those in charge make good decisions, I acknowledge this is the case. For example,…

It was very nice and appropriate to hear one of my Council colleagues acknowledge the help provided by the owners of this business with floral planting in the town centre (Town Council meeting tonight). Well deserved praise and yet another good example of business that puts something into the community.
