Only the Lonely
I attended a workshop at Winchester today, as part of the consultation process that has to happen before the Tory Council closes Day Centres in Romsey and Petersfield.
I don’t like the direction of travel.
It’s really all about achieving over £50 million of savings from the Adult Services budget.
Whilst I am very sure officers will do their best to try and provide an alternative provision, I think Day Centres are an important way of making sure older people who would otherwise feel very lonely and isolated, get to enjoy some regular company.
Depressingly, you just know that if the Tories achieve the current savings, they will be looking to go even further in the next round.
Where is the long-term vision?
