Councillor Davod Harrison

Letter To The Press

Bubble
Bubble

Dear Sir,

People often refer to our National MP’s as being out of touch and living within a Westminster bubble.

I am afraid to report that this sort of thing also happens more locally.

This week, I listened to the Conservative Leader of New Forest District Council deliver his Budget speech to an audience of mainly Conservative Councillors.

You would have thought that the authority was well run, referring to housing projects and an award from the concrete society for some beach huts.

It ended with applause.

You would not have known that New Forest District Council has the worst delivery for housing in the UK, one of the worst recycling rates in the UK and overspent on a row of concrete beach huts by £1.2 million.

Voters will get the opportunity of delivering a more realistic verdict at the forthcoming elections,

Yours Sincerely,

Councillor David Harrison
Leader, New Forest District Liberal Democrats
