Happy Birthday Testwood Lakes
I was delighted to join other guests, including the local MP, to celebrate the 15th birthday of the official opening on the Testwood Lakes nature reserve.
We were guests of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
We heard from the Chief Executive of Southern Water who told us how pleased he was with the way the reserve had developed, managed by the Trust.
Dr Lewis spoke very well, suggesting that this project should be seen as an exemplar, both nationally and internationally, combining functionality, beauty and environmental benefits, where everyone was a winner.
Most importantly, we also heard from two volunteers, talking about the joy that they experienced in supporting the work of the Trust, managing the facility.
I truly believe that creating the Testwood Lakes nature reserve was one of the best things to have ever happened in Totton.
As a regular visitor, I know more than most, how much it is appreciated…. not just by people, but by everything from newts to foxes….

I must admit to a slight sinking feeling whenever the thick file of papers known as the Agenda and reports for the next District Council planning committee fall on my doormat.
The District Council formally decided to adopt new powers that will enable them to levy fines at the registered owners of vehicles, if any litter is thrown out, whether by the driver or a passenger.
