Hampshire Highways

Dragon Patcher
Dragon Patcher

I joined other County Councillors at the Highways Depot in Totton today for a series of briefings and a demonstration of equipment.

I was thrilled to enjoy a ride in a snow plough and to witness the latest technology for fixing potholes.

These are photographs of the Dragon Patcher, a piece of kit that provides a quick and permanent repair to a very large pothole in around 10 minutes.

Hampshire County Council has now ceased the contract for roads maintenance arrangements with Amey’s and bought into a seven-year deal with a company that is new to Hampshire called “Skanska”.

With finance so tight, I hope it will mean more effective use of resources.

Only time will tell but the online facility for reporting faults “Hantsweb” is certainly a step in the right direction.
