EARLY DAYS BUT….

Live in the New Forest district? How do you fancy a Conservative plan for local government re-organisation that puts us in a new arrangement called "Greater Southampton?"

An organisation called Centre for Cities has published a draft plan showing what the "more efficient" template for local government could look like.

All this may come to pass well after I have retired from local government.

Possibly the worst outcome is what happened last time… a cool £1 million of your money spent on consultants and officer time, with different tiers of government fighting each others' plans… with no change at the end of it.

UNDERMINING RESTRICTIONS…

UNDERMINING RESTRICTIONS A most unexpected development…. when you look across social media and TV / Radio interviews and press articles, the politicians rebelling against government restrictions intended to slow the spread of the virus are mostly Conservative back bench MP's. I cannot recall many instances of Labour or Lib Dem politicians refusing to go along…

BUTTERFLY COUNT…

BUTTERFLY COUNT The Annual Butterfly Count received a lot of publicity this year, which is good, along with the number of people who took part in the exercise. The overall headline seems to be a reduction in most species of butterflies but (as always) the detail is much more important. Having everybody count at one…
