Durley Farm Housing Development
Turley Associates have sent me an invitation to attend a preview of a public consultation for a residential development of up to 100 homes at Durley Farm, Hounsdown, Totton.
The company behind the development are Taylor Wimpey.
It appears that they plan to offer a range of housing options, 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom homes.
Some of them will be “affordable”.
The site itself has been designated by New Forest District Council for residential use for many years.
I am somewhat surprised that it has taken so long for developers to progress it.
There is no planning application at this stage.
They want to consult first and then put in an application.
I will be interested to see what exactly is proposed.
I know already that a new vehicle access via Jacob’s Walk will not be popular with most people who live along this quiet cul-de-sac.
The public exhibition of the plans will be at Hounsdown Community Centre on Friday 7th June between 3pm and 7pm.

JUNCTION ROAD CLOSURE Another reminder that Junction Road, Totton, is closed for through traffic for essential maintenance work to the railway line. Pedestrians can still get through, via the footbridge. It's advertised as being closed until 7am on Friday, 21st February (although it may be opened earlier if works are complete ahead of time.)
"WATCH" OUT FOR THIS POT HOLE HAZARD I don' t normally alert people about individual pot holes (where would I stop!)… However, there is a really bad one on the approach to Rushington roundabout, Totton, on the inside lane, as you drive down Spicers Hill. HCC is aware of it (it has some white paint…
FLOODING ISSUES The amount of rain falling in the local area is causing some serious problems. Some of our roads have a lot of standing water on them, so when driving, do take care. I checked out Eling this morning. The tide was low, so no homes flooded yet (as far as I am aware),…
