DISAPPOINTED…….?

I am profoundly disappointed by the mixed messages that we are getting from our "alleged" Leaders about the virus and how we should behave in response to it.

Leaving aside the scandal that is Dominic Cummings and whether you are happy to accept an account that he drove 60 miles to visit a castle on his wife's birthday in order to "test his eyesight"…you might just appreciate that the episode undermines public confidence.

However, more serious than this is the Chief Scientific Advisor saying "This is a dangerous time to be easing the lock down"… when Boris and his Cabinet have decided to do just that.

On the TV this morning, I heard a justification for easing the lock down rules on the grounds that "Your chances of catching the virus have now reduced from 40-1 to 1000-1". That sounds to me like the dodgiest statistic in the world and yet it will likely be accepted by millions of people as a licence to go out and mix with others.

I think we are suffering from very poor governance, with years to go before another General Election and a chance to change things.

I really hope that we don't get a second wave of this virus, but I fear we will. Ultimately, it depends on how we all behave, each and every one of us….

SUPPORTING CYCLING It's interesting to see that some of the more visionary authorities are doing practical things to support cycling by putting in things like bespoke cycle lanes and secure cycle racks. LOCAL PLAN IS APPROVED…

LOCAL PLAN IS APPROVED It was an extraordinary meeting of New Forest District Council tonight. Several Conservative Councillors expressed upset and frustration that the Conservative government were imposing house building development on the New Forest, often without the necessary infrastructure being in place, but nevertheless, all of them followed the party line and voted in…
