Cycle Path Extension

Cycling Path Extension

I am very pleased to report that a short but meaningful extension to the Eling to Marchwood Cycle route will be constructed next week.

When completed, it will be possible for people to access the off road route from Tavell’s Lane, at the Marchwood end.

The works are being funded by a private business donation which I secured some time ago, together with some funding by Hampshire County Council.

I think it will improve safety for users and help keep cyclists away from busy traffic, at least at the Marchwood end.

In time, I very much hope that we can look to extend the cycle route at the Eling end, so that it will be possible to ride off road to and from Hounsdown.

This has particular benefit to school children and could be funded by a “Safer Routes to School” fund.
