COUNCIL COMES ON BOARD
The campaign to restore a passenger service along the Waterside railway line is gathering pace.
A few weeks ago, Marchwood Parish Council voted to support the project.
Last week, Hythe and Dibden parish Council voted unanimously to throw their support behind the project.
I am hoping that Totton & Eling Town Council will follow suit, as well as Fawley Parish Council. Nick Farthing, Chairman of the very successful Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership has very kindly offered to present an overview of the project and what it will deliver and has already done so for the two Councils that have decided to support.
I will be seeking to persuade the majority of Councillors at New Forest District Council to support. Some of them, including Conservative Councillor, Sue Bennison, (Marchwood) is resistant and has lobbied hard to prevent it from ever happening.
The key to getting this to happen is in getting Hampshire County Council to support the scheme. I have tried several times and different ways to get them to shift their position from "neutral" to "support". I will keep pushing. It certainly helps to have the support of the Towns and Parishes!

Charities such as The Minstead Trust are going to suffer badly as a result of the lock down and collapse in economic activity. Don’t forget that they also now run the popular Hanger Farm Arts Centre in Totton. Please, if you can spare something, do make a donation.
VIRAL BEHAVIOUR It was good to see that customers at the Co-Op store in Rumbridge Street, Totton, were practising social distancing, queuing at 2 metre distances. Elsewhere, I noticed it wasn't happening, particularly with some young people. I think part of the problem is that they like to rebel against authority or any sort of…
FISH EATERS If you are fortunate, a walk around the Salmon Leap in Totton, might afford you a sight of two fish eating birds. The one with a red head is a female Goosander whilst the beautiful bird with pure white plumage is a Little Egret.
SOCIAL ISOLATION I spotted this donkey and kept my distance, as requested. Rushington Manor Residents Association have recruited some volunteers to help anyone on the Estate who need help whilst isolating themselves. If you know of anybody needing a bit of help with shopping, or any donkey work, let me know and I will happily…
FOOD BANK HELP I have been in touch with the team who organise the food bank at Testwood Baptist church, Totton. They are still continuing the excellent work but would appreciate any donations. I am organising a grant from my own community engagement budget and am asking the administration at New Forest District Council (once…
