I am often told that the referendum result must be respected and that it doesn’t matter that the result was very close… the will of the majority is all that matters.
Last night, our Parliament, “taking back control” also had a very close vote on how we should leave the EU (not something that the referendum ever settled).
The motion was :
“rejects the United Kingdom leaving the European Union without a Withdrawal Agreement and a Framework for the Future Relationship.”
(division #357; result was 311 aye, 309 no)
Our local MP was on the losing side of this vote.
I hope that democracy and the will of Parliament will be respected.

It’s interesting to hear Nigel Farage express the view that Brexit is so important that if it breaks up the United Kingdom it will be worth it.
