BEAVERS IN THE NEW FOREST…

BEAVERS IN THE NEW FOREST
There is a lot of delight that beavers introduced into Exmoor have apparently done the business over the weekend and built a dam. This is the first time this has happened in England in hundreds of years.
Beavers are these days appreciated as a keystone species. I would not normally condone the felling of any trees, but they use them to build dams which slow the water from escaping downstream, creating habitats for all sorts of other wildlife and helping prevent flooding where it is not so welcome!
I would certainly be supportive of any plans to introduce beavers into the New Forest. It would almost certainly have to happen on privately owned land, so as not to cause too much disturbance. I think they would be quite a popular attraction.

PERFECT POSE…
PERFECT POSE I have very limited technical knowledge when it comes to photography but I think there is such thing as having a “good eye” for a shot. This Pied Wagtail was very conveniently perching on a stone plinth and this, together with the back and white background, which matches the colour of the bird,…
‘We have had enough’ – councillors quit group overseeing New Forest leisure centres outsourcing
Another blow to the Conservatives hopes of privatising the Health & Leisure Centres. Of course, the Conservatives have never asked the public what they think about handing over the management of the Health & Leisure Centres. When they set up a Liaison panel of users to look at the issue, the members of the users…
