90 Million Fewer Bus Journeys
The local government association have just sent me figures that show a drop of 90 million bus journeys in Great Britain over the past year.
I am aware that there are parts of the New Forest that no longer have any bus service and that near here, the service through Marchwood village is nothing like as good as it used to be.
This is a staggering figure, especially when you consider that the population is getting older and the need for good public transport is growing, not decreasing.
If this isn’t a failure of government, I don’t know what is. It has massive social, economic and environmental consequences.
