20 MPH Limit In Totton Or Marchwood?

20mph Zone
20mph Zone

I have checked, following a request for a 20 mph speed limit in a road in Totton, what Hampshire County Council proposes to do with any such requests.

The Assistant Manager for Traffic and Safety has told me that the authority are currently evaluating the effectiveness of pilot 20mph zones elsewhere in the county.

Once the technical review is complete, HCC will adopt a policy that will be informed by the experience of the pilots.

I personally think there is a strong case for some roads being restricted in the Totton South & Marchwood division, especially in places where there are schools or older people crossing from pavement to another.

I am sure we can all think of potential roads!

I realise there will be a cost involved and that enforcement is a big issue in these days of limited police resources, but I do hope that road safety is the biggest material consideration when deciding what to do……

In y view!as a resident of Marchwood that Main Road , Marchwood from the junction with Tavel Lane as far as the Pilgrim Inn Gould be 20 MPH area,. There’s is heavy traffic in the area with many young children predestination at school times both. Leaving local schools and alighting from school buses plus many pedestrians who are elderly crossing the road at various places making tha road very dangerous

Yes, I agree that there is definitely a need for for 20mph speed limits in Totton, especially Ringwood Road where there are no less than three schools adjoining or close by. Please press for a 20mph limit from Calmore Crossroads to Maynard Road roundabout and also reduce the illogical limit of 40mph between the crossroads and A336 roundabout (Goodies). Why have a 30mph limit through Netley Marsh and 40mph in Totton where the road is narrower and more built up? These anomalies need to be addressed.
