Poppies On Totton Roundabout

Next year, 2018, is a significant one in that it marks 100 years since the end of World War One. At the time, it was often described as “The war to end all wars”.

The loss of life and injuries was truly horrific. It would have involved people living in every village, town and city in Britain.

I am very pleased that it has been decided to mark this event with another very big poppy display at Totton’s Asda roundabout.

I have used my community grant giving powers to help set things up, providing £500 to fund materials and a workshop or two so that people can help produce the proposed 800 poppies needed to complete what should be a fantastic display.

I have asked the organisers to let me have details of the workshop/s for all those interested in participating. I will share these with you in due course.

It is proposed to use the initiative to help raise funds for both the Royal British Legion and Testwood Arts projects.
