Last Chance for Jet Skiers
I am still receiving reports of a minority of jet skiers ignoring the speed restrictions at Eling Quay and riding in ways that create an unacceptable hazard.
I had rather hoped that the publicity might create a bit of peer pressure that would stop the practice.
I have been in discussion with the police who have agreed to notify the Marine Unit and ask them to visit the area.
I have also been given a contact telephone number which the public can use to report any future incidents. It is: Harbour Masters at VTS (Vessel Traffic Services) 023 8060 8208.
I am no “fun sponge”, but I am not going to wait until a serious accident occurs.
The minority of jet skiers who are causing these problems are acting in an anti-social way and they are drinking at the last chance saloon.
If it continues, I will ask the Council to implement a complete ban on using the slip for the launching of jet skis at Eling Quay.
Final warning to those who think they can continue to get away with it.
