Parents who ignore parking restrictions near school gates will face stiff penalties thanks to the efforts of County Councillor for Totton South, David Harrison.

People who park in the restricted areas outside Hounsdown School, in Jacobs Gutter Lane, Totton will be subject to warnings and enforcement action by the police following a request by Councillor David Harrison for stiffer action.

Cllr. Harrison says “Local people have expressed concerns to me that some motorists are ignoring parking restrictions and causing a hazard to children and other road users outside the school. This lazy behaviour is selfish and dangerous. I want to see people fined for doing it. Hopefully, tougher action will prevent a tragic accident”.

Totton police have agreed to target the area, starting in September. Motorists ignoring the restrictions are likely to receive a warning or a fixed penalty notice. A warning to parents is also to be included in the Hounsdown School Newsletter.
