Lymington Times,
Dear Sir,
Conservative Councillor, Derek Tipp, has clearly ruffled a few feathers (letters 12th April). He claims that evidence gathered across the globe pointing to the causes of climate change is no more than propoganda. The ex-school teacher is apparently so sure that all the scientists and governments have got it wrong that he is striving to ensure our children receive what he thinks is a balanced education.
The problem for Councillor Tipp is that he doesn't have a scrap of evidence to support his contention that our children are not being educated properly. It's also interesting that he takes this stance whilst remaining a member of the Conservative party that has been at such great pains to convince us all that global climate change is such a great threat to us all.
Maybe he should start his own new political party, campaigning on a message that we no longer need to worry about energy use, industrial air pollution, recycling, reducing plastic bags, vehicle emissions, increases in global air travel. He could even call it "New Conservatives" !
Yours Sincerely,
David Harrison, Town, District & County Councillor,
New Forest Liberal Democrats,
