Where the housing is likely to go in Totton

Although the local plan still has to undergo some further hurdles before it is anything like settled, it is already possible to see how much housing Totton will be expected to accept and where it is likely to be developed.

District officers are looking at providing an allocation of some 920 homes on land north of Totton (see map).

It’s going to be quite a change of outlook for existing residents living in Cooks Lane and Paulets Lane, Calmore.

This area contains a land reserve for a new Primary school, if required.

I didn’t see any of the Tory Councillors representing this area (Totton North) at the meeting today.

We were told it wasn’t a decision making meeting, but a chance for members to make views known on the overall strategy.

It might be a good idea, particularly for those interested in history, to go out and take some film and photographs of this area.

My guess is that it will be unrecognisable in 20 years time.
