Why are Cats less valued than Dogs?

The answer is that they are not. Many, many, people prefer cats to dogs as pets.

It therefore seems strange that the law requiring people to report incidents involving death or injury to cats is entirely different.

My family once owned a cat that was struck and killed on Salisbury Road.

Nobody reported it to us. I found the cat, still warm, by the roadside.

It’s quite heartbreaking.

I understand that the driver may not have been in any way at fault.

Possibly, they may not of even been aware but I like to think that if they had known, they would have made some effort to trace the owner.

As the law stands, you aren’t required to do anything and can simply drive away.

A petition has been raised, requesting a slight amendment to the existing law.

Previous attempts have failed.

I rather doubt that the present government will find the time to consider the plea.

Perhaps it should be considered along with a legal requirement for cats to be chipped?
